Coming to France

You have undertaken or filed an application to seek healthcare in France.

The care course of your medical evacuation or your medical stay has been approved, the dates are set. You are therefore on your way to France and about to take off!

Evadeô Pro collected for you the practical information below. It can be very useful!

1. Administrative procedures and visa

VISA-POUR-ENFANT-MINEURTo speed the processing time and support your claim for a French visa, remember to bring all the documents that evidence your care course and your healthcare support: certificates from your physician, notice from the French hospitals, certificate from your employer or insurance company stating that your medical costs will be paid, and of course Evadeô Pro’s certificate that guarantees your accommodation and the financing of your stay to the consular authorities.

To the extent possible, opt for a 3 month visa. This will bring you more comfort and peace of mind that the one-month visa.

2. Arrival at the airport

Upon your arrival at the airport, an Evadeô Pro agent comes to welcome you. He drives you to your place of accommodation (see Our partners or Our places of accommodation in a hotel) and hands you your package documents. These contain all the details regarding your stay.

3. Expenses and currency

Depending on the option you have chosen and the nature of the services provided by the organization that funds your medical costs or your employer, some expenses may be charged to you:
• Food
• Certain trips
• Laundry
• Personal expenses
• Etc.

Evadeô Pro’s teams will be happy to provide you with these services. However, if you want to manage them by yourself, some elements of information might be useful to you.

Currency

If you want to bring cash, we recommend that you change your money to euros in your home country (e.g. at the airport) before coming to France for your treatment. The places offering to change certain currencies in Paris may be limited or charge relatively expensive commissions.

EUR 1 = FCFA 656 and is the equivalent of approximately USD 1.35 (USA) or approximately GBP 0.7 (UK).

Payment by international credit card (VISA, Mastercard, American Express, etc.) is also accepted in most outlets in France, generally with a minimum purchase requirement.
• If your family wants to send you money, banking and postal organizations offer different transfer modes such as, for example, mandate letter or wire transfer. Ask our Evadeô Pro teams for advice.
• Warning: Money may be stolen from you, either at the hospital or on the street. Be extremely cautious and keep a part of what you have with you.
Ask your family to specify the department and, if possible, the address of your place of residence or the address of the hospital and the room number.

Food

hotel_le_bristol_parisThe simplest approach is to eat in the many restaurants surrounding your place of accommodation that offer a variety of cuisines from all backgrounds. But it is also the most expensive method, as the cost of a restaurant meal can vary from EUR 10 to EUR 50.

In most cases, Evadeô Pro will provide you with accommodation that includes a kitchen (residence, individual flat, apartment hotel… see Our places of accommodation. It may therefore make more sense to do your shopping in the nearby malls and prepare your own meals. Remember, Evadeô Pro can also help you do your shopping and prepare your meals (see Our Services)

Washing and ironing clothes

If your stay is extended, and if you have not opted for Evadeô Pro’s services for washing and ironing your clothes, you may go to nearby Laundromats for those specific services.

Personal expenses

Need to buy a hi-fi or electronic device or a household appliance? Need to restock designers or haute couture apparel? Want to bring gifts / souvenirs for the family?

Paris, capital of fashion and high-tech, is here to satisfy all your desires!

Please note that prices can vary dramatically. Plan ahead to manage your budget, think of all the expenditures you will need to incur until the end of your medical stay, and do not hesitate to ask our teams to guide you to the most appropriate outlets. Remember, Evadeô Pro is also happy to offer you its assistance for optional sightseeing and shopping sprees.

4. Escort

Depending on your age, your profile, your condition and the agreements signed with your employer or the organization handling your medical costs, you may consider being accompanied by the person(s) of your choice (relatives, friends, etc.) during your medevac to France. Don’t forget to inquire with the people concerned about the nature of costs covered for your escort’s stay.

In the case of a medical stay on your initiative, please send a request to our services for the organization and management of your escort(s).

In any event, Evadeô Pro’s teams offer accommodation for the escort(s), driving them to the places of their choice, as well as leisure activities for them (sightseeing, shopping, etc.) to enhance their stay.

Specific fun activities can also be offered for children.

Caution: your escort must also make sure to be in accordance with legal requirements (visa issuance) and vis-à-vis his employer.

So remember to notify Evadeô Pro of the presence of one or more escorts for an optimum welcome!

5. Transport

Evadeô Pro offers to handle your accompaniment to all your medical appointments, as well as to the places of your choice (shopping, family visits, sightseeing, etc.).

However, if you want to manage some of your transportation by yourself, Paris and its region have a public transport network that is relatively developed and will facilitate your daily life: buses, trams, metro, trains travelling inside Paris and in the area, etc.

Unlimited use of such transport requires the purchase of a specific card (“pass Navigo”), the cost of which is between EUR 25 and EUR 50 per week depending on the geographical areas to cover (this can be bought in all stations). Do not hesitate to ask our Evadeô Pro team for advice.

Taxis from Paris and its region will also transport you to places of your choice, with generally higher rates (between EUR 1 and EUR 1.50 per kilometer).

6. Stay in touch with your family!

• By snail mail

Your family can send mail to the address of the hospital, the headquarters of Evadeô Pro (our staff will bring it to you) or at your place of accommodation.

If you receive mail at the hospital, it will be given to you by the postman or the supervisor.

If you want to send mail, check the price of postage for sending to your country of residence. Rates differ depending on the destination.

• By phone

From your place of accommodation or your hospital room: under certain conditions, you can call or receive calls. The opening of the line and the cost of calls are your responsibility. From the hospital, ask the supervisor of the department about the procedure or turn to our team of medical visitors.

From a phone booth: simply buy a phone card.

As a more convenient and economical solution, we recommend that you purchase a SIM card that is compatible with the French telephone network and purchase Lebara or similar top-ups.

• By the Internet (unlimited)

Internet cafés offer powerful Internet connections at affordable prices, which will allow you to exchange on an unlimited basis with your loved ones.

Avec Evadeô Pro, seeking treatment in France becomes a breeze!
